The Commission holds SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination, for recruitment to different posts for which a Graduation from a recognized University is the minimum requirement.
The Examination will be conducted in three tiers as indicated below:
2 - English comprehension - Compulsory English is hands down the best book for preparing English for any competitive examination. For grammar you can refer to Wren & Martin.
3 - General intelligence & reasoning. - R.S Aggarwal's book for reasoning is more than sufficient for reasoning section. "A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non verbal reasoning" is bulky book with lots of questions for practice.

TIER I
- Tier –I exam consist of only one paper that would be common for all categories of posts and will be held in one session.Tier 1 consists of 4 sections of 50 marks each. Time duration is 2 hours.(2hours 40 minutes for PH candidates).
